Debbie Sills

Former Principal at Deloitte, LLP

Debbie’s career demonstrates a track record in P&L leadership, strategy development, and implementation, leading complex, large-scale transformations and building new practices in commercial and government markets. She also has significant global experience, having lived and worked across three continents and served in numerous global leadership roles over her career.

During her 23 years as a Principal at Deloitte, Debbie has served in various leadership roles, including the Global Leader for Deloitte’s Government and Public Sector (GPS) practice and the GPS Sustainability, Climate, and Equity market leader. She also served as the P&L leader for Deloitte’s State and Local Higher Education Industry, where she was responsible for strategy, sales, government contracting, service delivery risk management, profitable growth, client management, and led acquisition and performance, the Chief Risk Officer for Deloitte’s Consulting practice and led the Strategy and Operations business for Deloitte’s Federal Practice. She played a significant role in integrating a large professional services acquisition into the course.

Debbie’s governance experience includes serving as a non-executive Director on the US Board, as Co-Chair for Deloitte’s US Nominating Committee, and as a member of the Risk and Regulatory, Compensation, and ESG committees. Debbie also chaired the firm’s Acquisitions and Investments sub-committee. Debbie brings her inquisitive, consultative style and deep understanding of technology, government regulation and markets, and ESG to the boardroom. In addition to her role on the US Board, Debbie has served as a member of Deloitte Consulting’s US Board, Consulting’s Management Committee, and Deloitte LLPs Federal Operating Committee.

Debbie’s client experience includes serving State and Local, Federal, Health Care, and Higher Education clients across a broad spectrum of strategic initiatives and large-scale technology transformations, including projects generating revenues over $100M, bringing her expertise to transforming health and human services programs.

In addition to her formal leadership roles, Debbie is known for mentorship and development of others with a strong focus on helping women succeed in business. She co-leads a Deloitte-sponsored Board Ready Women program in the Colorado area. She is a member of the development board for Greenhouse Scholars, a not-for-profit organization focused on building future community leaders by helping under-resourced students to succeed in university.

Debbie started her career as a computer programmer and technologist in Western Australia. She went on to lead solutions marketing organizations across Australia, the United Kingdom, and Europe before transferring to the United States to lead global marketing for a large technology company’s financial retail banking solutions portfolio. Debbie joined Deloitte Consulting as a Principal in 2000.

Debbie received a Bachelor’s degree in Science (with majors in Mathematics and Computer Science) at the University of Western Australia. She also completed a Harvard Executive Education program, ‘Building New Business Ventures.’ She is a certified NACD Director and has participated in numerous governance education initiatives, including the 2022 Stanford Directors College program.
